Our clients Shayli and Harshad Chaudhary are both from the creative field. Shayli works as a makeup artist, while Harshad is a photographer. It was only obvious that they wanted a glamorous home with a lot of warmth. Hailing from Mumbai, they chanced upon Livspace on Facebook and Instagram. One visit to our Experience Centre in Lower Parel and they were convinced they had found their interior designer!

Being avid travellers and with a creative bent of mind, this young couple had a lot of ideas for their home. They also came prepared with a lot of pictures for inspiration. This formed the basis of their brief for designer Nikunj Parmar. In a nutshell, they wanted their home to be strictly done up in neutral colours and have a luxurious hotel-like feel to it. In turn, we suggested use of ample mirrors, wood and whites to open up this compact home. This has resulted in a visually larger space. You have to see it to believe it!

A vibrant living full of life!

Designers at Livspace are well aware of the challenge presented by compact spaces and can work their magic around the coziest and smallest of spaces with some smart designs. This is evident as you step into their flat in Pallazio. The living room has been dressed up in white and wood that sets the mood instantly!

The room sports a white exposed brick texture on the TV wall and the wall opposite it. The TV unit is kept minimal, with basic shelves and a dedicated shelf for the subwoofer. Another striking feature of this living room is the lovely use of wood all over in the form of slats. Mirrors also play an important role here, with full-length versions on either side of the television, that creates an illusion of a large space. The centre table is a mirrored beauty that plays match with the ones on the walls!

A Makeshift Dining!

Young urban couples with compact urban homes need solutions that make the most of space. Since Harshad and Shayla wind up travelling for most of the month, they felt a dedicated dining area was not required. So Nikunj came up with this brilliant idea of having a foldable dining table, that folds into a cabinet/crockery unit. A false ceiling in wood with a crystal chandelier, demarcates this area and makes it stand out in style. So, when the dining table is not in use, it turns into a crockery unit-cum-display counter. Savvy, don’t you think?

A befitting semi-modular kitchen

The Choudharys did not want an elaborate modular kitchen, since they do not spend a lot of time at home. But they opted for a semi-modular version, or a kitchenette if you will. Nikunj, very smartly, gave them space for the washing machine inside the kitchen, which the couple had specifically asked for. Lovely honeycomb ceramic tiles create a beautiful pattern on the backsplash.

Cream dreams

The bedroom, especially, is compact but doesn’t give that impression after we worked on it. Thanks to the superb use of mirrors by Nikunj, this room feel much more spacious than it actually is. The white and cream theme keeps things neutral and adds to the illusion of space. A glossy sliding wardrobe saves space and adds glamour to this room. Nikunj also gave the vanity mirror for making things easy for Shayli. This small detail adds so much to the space, and is another example of how involved our designers get with the clients to give them a home that works for them.

“We just got married in May and this is our first home, so we wanted it to be special! Livspace has been amazing, and Nikunj accomodated a lot of things in our cozy home. Our friends and family love it and we love coming back home, every day.”

– Shayli Chaudhary, Livspace Homeowner

“Working for Harshad and Shayla was like working for friends. They trusted me completely and gave me complete freedom to design their home. Their faith in Livspace and me was what made this home look like this!”
