When you see the pictures of the Malhotra family, it’s instantly evident what a happy bunch they are! After searching for interior designers in Delhi, the family called upon Livspace to do up their spacious 4 BHK in Gurgaon. Sidharth Malhotra took up the task of steering through the discussions and meetings. So, the family wanted a roomy layout with minimalistic details and sharp lines so they took advice from the best interior designers in Delhi.

Even before meeting Tanvi Mehta, design manager at Livspace, he researched popular talk shows and daily soaps to find inspiration for the interiors. Thus, each room features a beautiful design which pays a homage to a role model.

We specially love the versatile colour palette consisting of blues, white and red which is visually light. Moreover, the designer restricted these colours to mostly the upholstery and cabinet finishes so that the home has a refreshing and spacious feel. Family and friends of the Malhotras say that the home is very elegantly designed with a seamless rhythm throughout. What do you think?

Ideas From Interior Designers in Delhi: Cheery Comfort

On his hunt for inspiration, Sidharth really liked the Koffee with Karan setting — the Tuxedo sofas, comfy atmosphere and straight-lined designs. Thus, the living room mirrors these ideas but takes on a breezy and light appearance because of the white walls.

The living room also opens out to a spacious balcony with a pergola. Additionally, the family loves spending their evenings here chatting and catching up on the day’s events. In fact, details like the metallic pendant light in the corner, beautiful printed sheers and a distressed wooden top centre table add to the milieu.

As the living room was compact and the furniture occupied a part of the living-cum-dining space, a jali was introduced to demarcate the areas. The overall colour combination travels well around the space.

Ideas From Interior Designers in Delhi: Muted Magnificence

To offset the bright colours in the living, our designer used muted colours in the dining area. Moreover, the shaker-style dining table paired with grey upholstered Parsons chairs gives it a comfortable and cosy look. She also placed a simple crockery unit to store essentials.

Ideas From Interior Designers in Delhi: Elegant & Effective

Heena Andleeb, the interior designer also used the false ceiling as a demarcating factor for the open layout. Simple yet effective, this gives it an elegant boost. Although Sidharth was initially skeptical about an open kitchen, they still went ahead and broke down the wall separating it from the dining.

Thus, a space for a breakfast counter was made possible. Additionally, the colour combination of navy blue with Sonoma Oak gives it a vibrant yet classy appearance. A white countertop and lacquered glass backsplash bring the look together beautifully.

The lady of the house, Poonam Malhotra, wanted more storage in the home. Thus, Heena has stocked the kitchen with storage options including a tall unit. This houses their appliances to cutlery units, bottle pull-outs, drawers and even lofts.

Don’t you just love how pretty the pendant lights above the breakfast counter look?

Heena has done up the pooja room neatly despite its compact dimensions. A backlit jali panel in pristine white with pretty patterns serves as a backdrop for the mandir. Besides, sleek storage units are provided to store the sacred books and pooja samagri.

Ideas From Interior Designers in Delhi: Minimalist Ideas

Sidharth’s room takes on a minimal and muted theme with wooden tones giving it warmth. The design takes inspiration from his adoration of Steve Jobs and the subtlety of Apple products. Thus, a streamlined look with no-fuss interiors adorns his room.

A simple study was planned out for him to carry on his work. The room also opens out to a beautiful balcony done up with a grass and tile flooring. His love for his role model is evident with the framed quote of the late American entrepreneur hung inside the wall trims specially made for it.

Ideas From Interior Designers in Delhi: Glamorous Goals

The parents’ room looks fabulous in red and white. We love how the colour combination instantly brightens the space. The room is decked up in a fusion of modern and classic styles with wooden furniture with chevron patterns and a sleek and stylish white wardrobe.

We’re crushing on the embellished mirror paired with a storage unit. This dresser is easily the most elegant place to get ready in. Although the sliding wardrobe has white shutters, the sides were given a glossy red to match the glamorous look of the room. An upholstered bench in front of the bed gives it a comfy and sophisticated spin.

Transparent sheer curtains along with floral printed drapes complete the look. Wall panels with geometric prints in beige contrast well with the red accent wall.

A sleek wall-mounted TV unit also finds a place in the room. With open storage shelves, this unit easily holds the necessary equipment with no room for clutter.

Ideas From Interior Designers in Delhi: Retro Tones

The daughter’s room done up in black, whites and greys has a retro look to it. A passionate fan of Audrey Hepburn, this room is a dedication to the beautiful actress and her black and white screen appearances.

A sleek study with an upholstered chair and overhead storage easily fit beside the bed. Taking the exposed brick wall as a backdrop, she has hung pictures of the legendary actress behind the bed. This blends into the theme of the room very well.

A compact TV unit in wood and white also forms part of the room. The only dash of colour in the room is courtesy of the blue-green curtains. An interesting twist, we think.

“I was in constant touch with Sidharth and his father during the design phase. They are great to work with and are happy with what the designers have put together in their home.”
