When the Chadhas approached Livspace to design their new home, they wanted bespoke interiors to match their family lifestyle. A comfortable cocoon that let them relax and enjoy their time there. When their designer, Nidhi Bhasin, took on the task, she gave it a classy spin with a muted palette.

The home currently speaks of understated elegance with beautifully curated furniture and decor. The spacious layouts let the kids ride their tricycles without worrying about damage. Each room manages to easily grab attention without compromising on the functional aspects.

Beautiful in Beige

Splashed in cream and beige tones, the living room takes on a comfortable look. This is what the family needs to spend some quality time with each other. Ample seating options matched with neutral-coloured furnishings and decor, the elements complement each other well to create a relaxing setting.

A pop of blue with rugs and cushions gives it an elegant boost, whereas a sleek wall-mounted TV unit completes the look.

Complete with Dining

A simple false ceiling with cove light tops off the living-cum-dining room decor. The clean-lined placement of furniture with a spacious design makes the open layout work well.

The dining room has a classy exhibit; all credits go to the accent wall with mirrors and trims. The family fell in love with a full-length mirror panelled wall at the Livspace design centre in Delhi. However, as there are little kids in the home, Nidhi suggested they opt for smaller mirrors which can be easily replaced in case of any damage. Smart thinking!

Beige tones prevail in the dining room as well to create a smooth flow. A glass top dining table with beige upholstered chairs and a white crockery unit balance the aesthetics and functionality.

How the kitchen came to be

The home initially had an open kitchen but the layout was revised to a parallel design to facilitate more storage. A trendy combination of Black Currant with American Walnut finish adorns the space. The kitchen is functionally efficient with a well thought-out work triangle, ample storage and easy-to-handle hardware and accessories. A utility space at the end of the kitchen is a bonus!

A balance of open and closed cabinets give them space for storage and display with ease. Also, ample lighting and ventilation options make it comfortable to work in.

Walk down memory lane

The passage towards the bedrooms was chosen to act as a gallery area to display all the portraits of the family. Formerly a dark space, it gets a facelift with a wallpaper below the colourful frames. This makes it look more spacious and visually light.

Muted Matters

Nidhi received a clear directive from Ramneek that his bedroom should exude his love for whites. Thus, a simple design featuring white walls with a grey contrast adorns the room. A leatherette headboard, an accent chair with a footstool and a TV unit-cum-dresser were all in grey.

The master bath has a beautiful design with wardrobes, a dressing area and vanity — in a grey and white palette.

Bedroom Blues

As Ramneek’s brother was more open to experimenting with the decor, our designer put on her creative cap to give it a charming look. Rustic wood finish wallpaper paired with a yellow accent chair and a contemporary bed have given the room a beautiful look. The wardrobe fits easily into an existing niche with a grey acrylic finish to match the milieu.

For the young and playful

A fun zone for the children at home, the kids’ room serves as a play-cum-study area for the two. The lime green and the aqua blue combination looks stunning along with a Rangers comic wallpaper. Wardrobes and study are optimised to suit the children and their essentials making it an ideal play den for the kids.

Comforting Blues

Ramneek’s mother preferred blue in her room and Nidhi was quick to suggest a design with a geometric wallpaper and furnishings to match her taste. A tufted bench was added to give the room more seating, especially in case the kids decided to spend time with their grandmother. The pendant light is the icing on the cake!

“The family was determined to get interiors from Livspace alone. They were very accommodating and put their trust in me. As a result, the design turned out well, and the family loves their new home.”
