Among the few cities north of the Vindhyas that have made the leap from being an insignificant town to one of the most sought-after commercial hubs in the country is Gurgaon, a.k.a., Gurugram. And owning an address in this posh locale is no small feat. Our clients Shonika and Prerak Bhatia, reside at Ourania, which is a high-end luxurious condominium that is away from the hustle-bustle of the city, yet in close proximity to all the facilities.

When the Bhatias approached Livspace, they had certain requirements that had to be addressed in order to get the design started. Some niches had to designed to create functional spaces that blend with the aesthetics of the home. In stepped Pallavi Kalra, Livspace interior designer, who gave them designs that impressed them, and thus the journey started..

Welcome Home to Elegance!

As you walk into this Gurgaon home, you will be hit by a flood of grey, which is oh-so-soothing to the eyes! Pallavi had shown the couple a few design samples with shades of grey and they instantly fell in love! The living room has ample seating, with the pewter-hued, tufted sectional that sits right in front of the wooden panelled TV unit. White flooring offsets the grey colour scheme here!

A Cozy Dining Area

Gurgaon home decor

Both, Shonika and Prerak wanted a dining area that would not eat up a lot of space and would still accommodate people. So, Pallavi suggested a round, glass top dining table with solid wooden legs, and fully upholstered dining chairs that play match with the sofas in the living room.

There was a niche in the wall near the dining table that had to be utilised, because it was proving to be dead space. Pallavi then came up with a solution to give the couple a storage-cum-serving counter in that area. The cabinets can be used to store cutlery and plates and the counter to serve food when guests are over. Intelligent use of space, we say!

Extended Dining or Reader’s Delight?

Doesn’t this corner look unique and appealing? This is yet another wall niche which is utilised brilliantly to create extra seating for friends and family during mealtimes. Pallavi gave them a fully upholstered floor-to-ceiling niche seating, with pendant lamps that could be used while they enjoy a book and a cup of coffee. We are crushing on this design!

There’s something in this room that the couple absolutely wanted — the trims on the wall behind the bed. Pallavi mastered this intricate detailing in terms of alignment and positioning. The carmen bed with a button tufted wingback headboard in ivory nude is such a treat to the eyes. A perfect break from the greys!

“It was a delight to work for the couple, since they were very open to new ideas and were quick with decisions. I could give them practical solutions and a design that they envisioned.”
