Pooja Kamaljit’s dream was home without bold colours, rather, just a calm and serene space done up in whites. She wanted to add colour only with soft furnishings that she could keep changing as she wanted. This businesswoman and her husband have travelled extensively and this helped them to understand the importance of good design.

While they had their previous home designed by an individual interior designer, this time they were not willing to spend that kind of time for getting their home done up. With their super busy schedule, the couple engaged Livspace to do all the work for them. Their designer, Pallavi Kalra took on the task and there was no looking back after that.

At first glance, you would not guess that their 3BHK could hold so much inside it. Thanks to the spacious layout, clever design and uncluttered rooms, this home packs quite a bit of storage while looking so dreamy.

Pooja was pretty sure that she wanted a pure white bedroom. However, being an experienced designer, Pallavi came up with a few interesting details that could be added to it. She added trims to the breezy white walls to create a certain design element on the plain surface. The wardrobe is another aspect that had to be dealt differently. Pallavi suggested this L-shaped wardrobe in old white membrane finish that blends so well with the rest of the design. Keeping things interesting is the mirrored shutter, acting as a dresser and a frosted glass shutter that breaks the monotony. Don’t you love it?

Creamy and Compact

One major concern about the kitchen was its size. It is a compact space which had to be designed in such a way that it looks spacious and bright. Therefore, Pallavi decided to use their favourite colour — white — on the cabinets. To accommodate a week or two’s groceries, she gave them two tall units, while the rest of the modules are given keeping maximum storage in mind. A lot of thought has also gone into selecting the tiles for the backsplash, which Pooja wanted to keep minimal. This design fit the bill perfectly, since it sports a subtle cream hue with an intricate design.

Simple but Effective

Kylie’s room is also a reflection of her mother’s love for white. Although she was leaning towards a lilac room, they eventually decided that she would grow out of it sooner or later. So, Pallavi gave her a study unit in pure white finish – replete with cabinets, drawers and shelves that hold all her books and necessities. Space crunch called for a sliding wardrobe, but the fully mirrored version makes sure that maximum light is reflected in the room.

Home pictures_quote

“They were a very nice family to work with. Always available to make decisions and open to any sort of communication. Having lived abroad for quite some time has shaped their design aesthetics in a certain way and I had to work around it. Everything went on smoothly and everyone loved the outcome. I enjoyed working on this one!”
